Background
Urea is a by-product of protein metabolism by the liver and is therefore removed from the blood by the kidneys. Urea is freely filtered through the glomeruli but is reabsorbed by the renal tubules in a flow-dependent manner. The higher the flow rate, the more urea nitrogen is removed from the circulation and is eliminated through the kidneys. Urea Nitrogen is identical in all species and this kit will measure Urea Nitrogen from sources other than humans.
Test principle
